Trafalgar foodie experiences that make a difference

Honey tasting in Delphi (Greece)

Trafalgar foodie experiences in Greece

Steeped in history, guests arrive at Delphi for one world’s most finger-licking foodie experiences. You will meet John and Nikiforos, who will tell you that honey production has been a local custom here for over 3000 years. Beekeeping has been in their family for over 100 years, and their dedication and passion to maintain their honey production activity has been attracting visitors from all round Greece (with some schools even coming all the way from Tessaloniki). It is the only interactive apiary in Greece, focusing strongly on education and preservation of the local biodiversity.

There was once over 40,000 beekeeping families here, but today only 500 families remain due to rising temperatures and wild fires that have damaged the fragile ecosystem.

You can support them by tasting delicious thyme honey (a Delphi speciality). As you learn it’s made with conscious production in mind – from recycling wooden board to reusing old cables and plastic bags. Immerse yourself in this little peace haven – while hearing John and Nikiforos’ family stories, learn how their beekeeping preserves a rich and fragile ecosystem. You’ll then have the opportunity to come up close to the hives, fully dressed in beekeeping outfit, and get a taste of the different types of honey products!

Ready to make a difference when you travel? We promise their love for family tradition and sustainable production will warm your hearts… just as much as the honey.

Chocolate tasting walking-tour in Zurich (Switzerland)

Trafalgar's tastiest foodie experiences

This is no ordinary chocolate tasting. Enter one of the world’s most fascinating foodie experiences: on a sustainable chocolate tasting walking tour in Zurich. During which, you’ll learn all about the bean-to-bar movement. This means ethically sourced cocoa beans have been crafted (by cleaning, roasting, cracking, winnowing, and grinding) – all the way through the process – into a perfect chocolate bar. Meanwhile, rest assured that all involved in the production process are respected with fair wages and working conditions.

Every bar will taste even more succulent than the next as you learn about the history of Swiss chocolate – and what sustainable chocolate production means to the local community. Your visit will also support smaller producers as all our chocolate producers are women-led businesses (who may be overshadowed by the bigger names), and spotlight the sustainable-ethical chocolate movement at large.

Zurich Old Town

As you explore on foot with our local guide Diana and local actors, you’ll also get to know Zurich’s rich multiculturalism (45% of the population are foreigners), vibrant districts, stunning lake and green parks – which have all built its reputation as one of the best places to live in the world.

Visit a organic family-run farm on Lake Bled (Slovenia)

Slibar farm (Slovenia)

Close to the glistening shores of Lake Bled, you’ll step into a fifth-generation-owned family farm in Slibar – where Monika and Gregor welcome you with open arms. Along with their children, they will take you on a guided walk around the beautiful farm. Sun-dappled orchards, fields and majestic Alps mountains engulf you here; where the beautiful stillness mingles with the daily musings of farm animals that call this paradise home.

Soak it all in as you sit down for a local, organically produced meal (made from cereals, vegetables, fruits that they cook into delicious dishes) that leaves you brimming with health. There’s also an opportunity to try first Slovenia’s first organic beer (made from a harvest of organically produced grain, fruit and vegetables).
